I would also add Jiuzhaigou National Park in Sichuan and Xinjiang. Jiuzhaigou is almost the top one tourist destination in China, known as a fairyland on earth. What I find strange is that many foreign tourists only know Zhangjiajie and I rarely see foreign tourists going to Jiuzhaigou. In fact, Jiuzhaigou is more famous than Zhangjiajie in China. To put it jokingly, if you come to Sichuan and don't go to Jiuzhaigou, it's like going to Beijing and not seeing the Great Wall of China—it feels like a crime! 😄 and Xinjiang is the pinnacle of natural landscapes in China. From snow-capped mountains, glaciers, canyons, and lakes to grasslands and deserts, it combines almost all the beautiful scenery you can see in Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand, and the Middle East. It's like experiencing four or five countries in one trip.

I have traveled all over the world. I have been returning to China in recent years. China is safe, clean, and people are friendly. It's got both the ancient and modern. It's got rich and unique cultures. You do have a learning curve though, for all the convenience brought by high technology. Once you have adapted, you will find China an amazing place to visit or to live in.

Excellent primer for those who have never been to China. I’ve been there 12 times, and to your top 15 places I’d add Nanjing, which also has a city wall, a beautiful lake, Purple Mountain, and excellent museums including the Nanjing Massacre Memorial which shouldn’t be missed. Also, on my most recent trip, we visited Qingdao on the Yellow Sea coast, a former German-controlled city with architecture from the era, the Tsingtao Beer Museum, and much more. Also in Shangdong province is Qufu, the hometown of Confucius. I learned so much from visiting it and nearby Nishan, which has a 78 meter tall Confucius statue. China is vast with so much to see, eat, and experience!

Thanks for your visiting China!
